MFW: Asymmetry Challenge & TRR #37

Monday, September 24, 2012

Good afternoon, and happy Monday, y'all!  I hope your weekends were spectacular!  I'll pop back in, tomorrow, to share lots of pics from ours.  But right now, I'm super busy with laundry, bed changes, baking bread, school, and the like.  So until then, I'd love to share a little something creative I made for a dear friend's birthday.  Enjoy!
I started this card by framing a piece of multicolored, chevron, patterned paper with a piece of Barely Banana cardstock; trimming its left side with a hand cut, from patterned paper, Polaroid, which was also ink distressed and stamped, in Barely Banana and Coral Calypso inks, with the "CELEBRATE You" sentiment, as well as a "SEPTEMBER" tag; and machine stitching, with white-threaded, zig-zag stitches, around the prepped piece's edges.
I then adhered a file folder tab near the top right of the stamped Polaroid and anchored it with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches, tied off, at either end, to the front of the prepped piece, before adhering the entire thing to the kraft, cardstock, card face.
The cake was then stamped, in Pool Party ink, on white cardstock; filled in with the stamped, in white ink, chevrons, which were roughly detailed with a white gel pen; hand cut out; and adhered, with foam tape, in its respective location.  It was then embellished with stamped, in Pretty in Pink ink, on white cardstock and hand cut flowers, which were further dressed up with stamped, in Wild Wasabi ink, leaves and mini pearls.
A length of Pool Party seam binding ribbon, tied in a dressy bow and embellished with a yellow button, laced with aqua twine, completes the look.
Inspiration for this card came from the Asymmetry Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and The Ribbon Reel's Challenge #37: Chevrons.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful, work week!
